There is a joy in the journey. There's a light we can love on the way. There is a wonder and wildness to life. And freedom for those who obey.

Happy Thanksgiving

So, since this is likely my last chance to post until Monday, I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.  If you are traveling, please be careful out there.  Remember my husband’s two rules about driving: 1. Watch out for idiots.  2. They’re all idiots!

We will be having a wonderful time at my mom’s house this year for Turkey dinner tomorrow.  In the evening, it will be over to have sandwiches and play games with my dad’s family.  I have a new Yahtzee game that I am itching to try out.  But the biggest news is that our dear darling Big Bird is coming up here for the holiday!  HOORAY!!!  I’ve not seen her in so long, and I cannot even put into words how good it will feel to get one of her hugs.  So good, I’ll probably get several dozen!  No body hugs like my Big Bird!  And she smells so good too!  When she leaves, my whole house smells like her for a couple days.  I love it.

There will also be the bittersweet side of things.  This will be our first big family holiday without Gramps and Max.  Tears are expected, but welcomed.  After all, as my mom says, the fact that we suffered such tremendous loss means we had something tremendous to loose in the first place, and THAT is truly something to be thankful for.

I love you Gramps, and I miss you terribly.  And I’m still making a pan of crunchy dressing, just for you and me.

I got these new cartoons today, and for some reason they really strike a cord with me right now! LOL

Pennies For Bella

I am so excited to report that we now have a way for people to donate to Bella’s family online! Thanks ever so much to the people of Cavalry Chapel of the Lakes (CCOL), the Clendenny family’s church. What an amazing group of people! Rather than just preaching and writing out checks, these Christians really do roll up their sleeves and dig in their heels to help someone in need. I have been so moved watching all the things they have been doing for Bella and her family! They have put together a massive yard sale, a bone marrow drive, and several other events. They have also created a webpage for the Clendenny’s that explains what they are dealing with and what their needs are. There is a link on the page where we can donate money by credit card, debit card, or pay pal account. I have copied that link and placed it on the right side of my blog.

Please, all who are able and moved to do so, give to Bella’s family! Even if it’s only a few dollars and cents, it all adds up. Each contribution is significant.

DAY -28

HOORAY!!!

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY JOY!

Ok. I'm done being silly.......for now. I just feel so excited. I've been anxious to post this, but wanted to let E put the news on her own blog first. It's only right. LOL

So, we have an official schedule now! Woo Hoo! Today is Day -28. 28 days till Bella-Bean's life-saving transplant! This is the kind of countdown I can handle! December 12, 2008 is officially T-Day!

Please join me in praying that the chemo goes smoothly with no problems, and for a 100% engraftment of the donor cells.

Autumn Sunshine

Here are some pictures I took last weekend during what was probably the last vestige of warm weather this fall. This tree is in my next door neighbor's front yard. It was so gorgeous this year! I've never seen so many colors in one tree! Red, Yellow, orange, even deep purple!

How could you not love this boy?

Daddy Days...

I'm not the world's best blogger. These pics are 3 weeks old. They were taken the last time J's Daddy was home. It was so wonderful watching these two together that weekend, after having been apart for so long! They really are best buddies! Here they are enjoying Baby Einstein together.

And bathtime is always a favorite.

And of course, the gentleman's pass time, reading the Sunday paper.

Lions and Voters and Prayers, Oh My!

Ok. I know. I have some updating to do! First off, here is our little J-man all dressed up as a lion. Isn't he the most adorable lion you've ever seen? Baby, Simba's got nothin on you!!! And now, here is a picture of the tree of us together. Can you tell what we are? Think long and hard. Don't try to cheat. Think about it before scrolling down!........
Did you get it?
Did you try?
Here's a hint..........think literary......
The Lion...
The Witch...
and the Wardrobe!!!
Do you love it?
Well, yesterday was the big day. J-man's first vote. He wasn't that impressed. I picked him up after work and we went straight to the pole. I put him in his stroller, not knowing how much of a wait I might have. I was pleasantly surprised not to have to wait at all. I mean, literally, not one second. We hit at just the right time. I chose a voting booth on the end and pulled J's stroller right up beside it. I gave him his juice cup and stepped in the curtain. And he FREAKED! He did not like Mommy going into that voting booth AT ALL! I peeked out and tried to comfort him a few times. Gave him toys, etc. He was fine the instant I was out, and NOT fine the instant I went back in. Finally, I had to take him out of the stroller and carry him into the booth with me. Have you ever tried to vote with a toddler in your arms? Not easy. First he kept trying to steal my pen. (we had paper ballots) I think he was trying to write in Elmo. I convinced him that would be throwing his vote away, so he started playing peek-a-boo with the people waiting in line behind us. So much for voter privacy. Good thing I wasn't ashamed of my vote! It took me a long time to fill out the Presidential vote. Even walking into the booth I still wasn't sure. It was the last thing I filled in, and I just stood there staring at it. This was one of the hardest elections ever! This morning on the phone I told R in a resigned tone that Obama will be our next President. He said, "I didn't know you had misgivings about that." My reply? "I had misgivings about BOTH of them!" Sad, but true.
And most of you who follow me also follow baby Bella and her mommy, so you probably already know this. But it bears repeating anyway. So far all of the apppointments and tests have gone very well in Cincinatti! It turns out that she does not have to have her tonsils out, only her adenoids, which means that her treatment will not be delayed. Also, it looks like her heart is very good, and so far all the appointments have been great. She has even made a new friend already. Little Kendra, who is just over 70 days post transplant and doing great! Talk about a role model! So thanks to everyone for the many prayers that have been going up for Bella and her family the last several months. Now we are seeing the evidence of our answers! You Go, God!! :)
